How TradeHub Local collects, uses, and protects your personal data, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1.Introduction

TradeHub Local ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data. It applies to all users of the TradeHub Local Platform (website and mobile app).

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where this policy refers to "personal data", it has the meaning given in those laws. Our separate Data Protection Notice explains your specific rights and how to exercise them.

2.Data Controller

TradeHub Local is the data controller responsible for your personal data. For any privacy enquiries, please contact TradeHub.

3.Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account data — name, email address, and password (stored securely).
  • Account type — whether you register as a Homeowner or Tradesperson.
  • Trade Profile data — business name, trade category, bio, years of experience, insurance status, coverage area, postcode sector, phone number, logo, and website.
  • Project & portfolio data — project titles, descriptions, property details, tags, and uploaded before/after images and work-in-progress clips.
  • Quote request data — job title, description, room size, timeline, dimensions, and site photos.
  • Vouch & verification data — your name, postcode, ratings, comments, and any media proof you submit.
  • Client invite data — when a Trade invites a client to verify a project, the client's first name and contact number may be stored to generate the verification link.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data (IP address, browser type, approximate location from postcode, pages viewed, and interactions).
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see the Cookies section below.

4.How We Use Your Information

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions.
  • To display Trade Profiles, portfolios, vouches, and verified badges publicly on the Platform and on shareable Calling Cards.
  • To route job quotes, homeowner requests, and project verification links between users.
  • To provide trade-category and location-based matching between Homeowners and Trades.
  • To operate membership tiers, billing, and feature access.
  • To monitor and enforce these Terms, prevent fraud, and remove abusive content.
  • To communicate with you about your account, Platform updates, and (where you have consented) marketing.
  • To improve the Platform through analytics and aggregated reporting.

The legal bases we rely on are: performance of a contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform, and your consent where indicated.

5.Public Visibility of Your Data

TradeHub Local is a community platform. Some information you provide is intentionally public so that homeowners can find and assess tradespeople. Specifically:

  • Your Calling Card, business name, trade category, coverage area, portfolio images, and vouches are visible to anyone.
  • Verified Homeowner Project badges and the associated client comment are public, though the verifying client's full identity is limited to a first name and (optionally) a postcode area.
  • Homeowner requests you post are public within the community.

Please do not post private contact details, financial information, or images that reveal the exact address of a property unless you have the owner's permission.

6.Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as necessary to operate the Platform:

  • Other users — information you choose to make public (see above) and data required to complete a quote or verification flow.
  • Service providers — hosting, analytics, email delivery, and payment processors, under contracts requiring confidentiality and data protection.
  • Authorities — where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.

7.Data Retention

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this policy. Account data is retained for the life of your account and deleted or anonymised shortly after closure. Public portfolio and vouch content may be retained to preserve the integrity of the community record, with identifying details removed where practicable.

8.Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in, remember preferences (such as your active county), and understand how the Platform is used. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some features.

9.Data Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted authentication, access controls, and row-level security that restricts who can read or modify records. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10.International Transfers

Your data may be processed by service providers located outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or reliance on an adequacy decision, in accordance with UK GDPR.

11.Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can delete it.

12.Your Privacy Rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time. Full details of these rights and how to exercise them are set out in our Data Protection Notice.

13.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the Platform or by email. The date above shows when it was last reviewed.
